Bet You Didn't Think You Could Go to Key West and Back in One Day!

So maybe we didn't make it all the way to Key West, but we did hear Jimmy Buffet singing Son of a Son of a Sailor (did you know Riley is the Son of a Son of Two Sailors). Again it was such a nice day and I don't know how many of those we have left because you never know in Florida when that summer weather is going to show up and stay. So I decided we would go to Sea World.

We arrived at about 0930 and the line for parking was pretty long but the crowds really don't matter to us because we weren't going to any shows. Just stopping to see what we could see. We ended up parking so far away from the entrance I thought we would need a bus to pick us up. We were the very last parking space on one of the rows, the single one all by itself. Made it to the ticket area and the entrance is so small that the lines seem huge but we were through in no time.

Decided to head to the right because we always go the other way. The tower was running today so we went there first. Walked right on and they shut the door behind us and we were going up in just a few seconds. The area that is under construction is huge, really wish they were putting displays in and not a ride. Riley enjoyed looking out the window and pretty much just stood there enjoying the view.

Once we were off of that ride, we went to Pacific Point and watched the seals. They were selling food this time so the seals were very vocal and putting on quite a show and of course there were lots of birds everywhere trying to get some of the fish. That was one of the bad things about no one else being there with us, we really couldn't feed the seals because I had Riley out of the stroller and we were walking or I was carrying him and I think he would have wanted to eat the fish or at least try it himself. So we just watched everyone else.

Next was the Penguins. Today there was a girl in the water washing the windows, I know that can't be the best job because the water has to be very cold. The penguins weren't really doing anything exciting today, although we watched two for a while because it looked like they might jump in and of course they didn't. The puffins were fascinating as always and again we watched them for some time.

Went to watch the dolphins in the underwater viewing, this was the first place we hit that was really crowded but we worked our way up to the glass and there were lots of dolphins swimming in the area today. Riley really liked it when they came right up to the glass. We didn't stay long just because there were so many people.

The stingrays were our last stop. It took us a bit to find a place to get up to the water so we could see the rays. It was also feeding time here and I swear the stingrays know if you have food or not. So we just got next to a guy who had food and he knew how to hold the food so the rays would come right up to the edge. Riley thought this was pretty funny, because they would slap the tips of their wings on the water or the edge of the pool right by us.

By this time we had been here for about 2 hours and it was getting to be lunch time or nap time, never quite sure these days. Made the long hike out to the car, got all settled in and Chris called. Hadn't talked to or seen him since Sunday so we were just catching up. Hung up from Chris and pulled out of the parking lot and before we hit International Drive, Riley was asleep, so I guess nap time was first today.

Lucked out because when we got home I was able to carry Riley into the house and put him in his crib and he slept for another hour.

Had a pretty normal afternoon building and reading. I beat everyone home today, not because I was early they were just all later than me. Started some laundry because Dan and I are going to Patrick tomorrow and that is chore enough for the day.
