Naps and Reading

Not much going on today. Did our normal run to Wal-Mart, went at our normal time today so we didn't hit any crowds at all. Got some breakfast at Sonic and then it was home for us.

Dan was very busy doing outdoor chores that kept him busy for the morning and I had a couple of loads of laundry to do.

Most of my day was spent reading Duma Key: A Novel by Stephen King. I'm really liking it so far. I also took an afternoon nap, just couldn't keep my eyes open. To bad I feel asleep with my light on and kept wishing someone would turn it off.

Guess this is what you would call a very quiet Sunday.

Retirement - How Can It Be?

Pretty hard to believe that Kim is retiring from the the Navy. Congratulations on a job well done. We will be having another party soon to present her with her shadow box, didn't get everything yet to finish it up. Wanted to do it right. And of course we are always up for a party, especially one that involves cake or maybe this time key lime pie.

The Happy Retiree.

We also celebrated the August birthdays.

The Birthday Girls and Boys. Notice how Kim was included in two celebrations today.

We had a really good time and the only thing that could have made it better was to have everyone here. But be sure you know, if you weren't here you were talked about and brought up in some great stories.

We had a little glitch with the weather, it decided to rain. But still got the food cooked and swimming in so the day was a success. Here's looking forward to the next party.

How Many Time Were You On I-4 Today?

Well I was on it four to many times. I was halfway through my Weight Watchers meeting (bad week, up 2 lbs, not sure why) when Dan called and said he was up in Altamonte with a truck that was over heating. He was at a repair shop and wanted to know if I wanted to come get him and go to IKEA. So that is what I did.

I-4 was really the easiest way to get back and forth to where we wanted to go. We didn't spend long at IKEA didn't even look around upstairs just got the boxes we wanted to pack some magazines away. Dan also got his favorite lunch, two hotdogs, bag of chips and the lingenberry soda all for $2.50, not bad. Then it was back to the repair shop. Sure am glad I don't have to drive with all those crazy drivers everyday.

On my way home stopped at Publix to get the rest of my shopping done. Needed to pick up some stuff for the chicken salad I'm taking to Tammy's tomorrow.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted today but now we don't have to go to IKEA on Sunday liked we planned so that leaves that day free. By free I mean laundry and cleaning the house, such fun.

More Scrapbooking

As you can see I have really been enjoying the digital scrapbooking, I think while I was at home during August I finished about 20 pages. Here is my latest:

I have also started that journal that I will take out to Disney with us in December so I can keep track of what we do.

I have also been getting my digital scrapbook supplies organized on the computer so everything is easier to find. I still have to make some more categories so supplies are easier to find.

Andy and the kids came over for a visit, they are going away this weekend so we got to see them for a bit. Dan doesn't get to see them often during the week.

Naps

The whole schedule has changed or at least a good portion of it. Nikki dropped her Chemistry class and picked up a different class but now both her classes are on Wed and it makes for a very long day for her. She leaves at about 1230 and won't be getting home until about 2200. So it makes my week pretty short but I still get at least one day with the kids. Now I will have to come up with different excuses for not getting things done.

Today I went early because Nikki had some things to get done. We went our for our walk just after she left and it wasn't to bad although Kaleigh wasn't very happy during the walk but I just kept sitting her up and laying her down and she survived.

This is Riley blowing me kisses, he has a cold and really isn't feeling very well.

Happened to catch this heron just as it was taking off.

We got back from our walk and Riley played for a while. I was feeding Kaleigh another couple of ounces, she has been very hungry the last few days. Took about a half hour of rocking and walking around before she finally went down for a nap. It was worth the time because she slept for about 3 - 4 hours.

Now Riley was another story. He was very tired and I thought he would go right down but he had other ideas. For two hours I went into his room about every 5 minutes and put him back in his bed and pick up what ever he had pulled out. He never was really upset that it was naptime he just didn't want to go down and I wasn't going to let him come out because then he would think he could do this everyday. When he finally did fall asleep he slept for about 2 hours and he didn't get out of his bed I had to go in and get him. Go figure. He really should have slept another 2 hours because he was still tired and cranky, I think it is the cold.

No much else after I got home. Deciding what I will work on tomorrow.

Did You Vote?

Dan had no jobs today so we started our day by walking over to our polling place. It's over on Canoe Creek just south of Pine Tree so it really wasn't much further than what I normally walk.

We had a beautiful day to be walking. Didn't even see the sun until we were more than halfway back to the house. The big cloud in the first picture kept it hidden for a long time.

We walked by the big field on Pine Tree and it was just covered in spider webs, this was the only one close enough to the road to get a good picture.

Got back to the house and Dan started in on the yard, five hours later he was finally done. It looks really good now.

I decided it was about time that I work in my craft room getting stuff put away. I got a lot done but could have gotten even more done if I hadn't picked up that first scrapbook to look at it. Because as we all know you can't look at just one, it has to be about ten. I looked at our Beach Vacation at Patrick, a couple of Christmas ones, the one of Kathi, Kim, Tammy, and me when we were really little, a Wedding one and a few more. I think you get the picture but once I start I just can't stop.

That pretty much filled my day. I still have some more work in my room and I came up with lots of ideas for things I want to get done so I just added them to my list (I have to have a list or I forget all the good ideas).

I was looking through my list of shows to be recorded and I finally have the season premiere of a show in the list, Bones comes back on, on Sept 3. So I guess other shows will be starting up.

And again a Very Happy Birthday to Kim and Tom.

Two Birthdays!!

Can you guess who? It really isn't hard because they haven't changed much.

Happy Birthday to Kim and Tom, here's to a great day and an even better Birthday cake.

Monday, Monday.....

Got to go for my walk today so that made for a good day. Another nice sunrise and some ground fog that made for a nice picture.

I spent the whole morning working on the computer, didn't even turn on the tv until noon when I sat down for lunch and watch the news before heading of to watch Riley and Kaleigh. Made another blog entry that is just below this one that gives you some of the details of my morning.

Here is Riley waking up from his nap in his big boy bed. He doesn't get out until you tell him it is ok, don't know how long that will last but it is nice for now. He has been in the toddler bed since Friday.

And Little Miss Cutie, with the bluest eyes we have seen in a while.

When Riley got up from his nap he sat in my lap for a bit and had a snack and Kaleigh just sat in the bouncey chair and amused herself. Then I made Riley some mac and cheese for lunch which takes a while because it has to cool down. Once he was in his chair and eating, I got a bottle for Kaleigh and she conked out and went down for a nap. Her first one today.

Riley ate all his lunch and then we had play time. We read some books, really just four but at least 4 times each. Then we did This Little Piggy and that went over very big bet I did that about 25 times, because I had to go back and forth between his feet.

Coloring was next, we hadn't done that in a long time and he was really enjoying it, actually coloring (well scribbling) instead examining the crayons over and over. While we were doing this Andy arrived home and I was off.

Dan was home when I got home and we spent a quiet evening at home, does this surprise anyone?

Miscellaneous Stuff

I plugged in my external drive and after about 1/2 hour it just started working and I was able to get some pictures I have been looking for back onto the computer so I can use them without searching through dvds. It worked for about 30 minutes so I was able to look at a bunch of stuff. Did more research online and no one has come up with a surefire way to get this drive to work with Vista, pretty hit and miss.

There are picture that will always be favorites of mine, not always sure why that is. But with this picture there are a couple of reasons. First the very obvious, it makes me laugh. Second it reminds me of a really great day trip we made to Key West when the kids and I lived in Orlando. It was Mum, Dad, Tammy, Chris, Andy and me. We caught a boat in Fort Myers and zoomed down for the day. What a great time we had.

This is Chris if anyone was wondering.

This is just so I remember the final stats of the Summer Olympics.
So many great moments during these games, really enjoyed
watching them.
