Best Time Yet

It was a perfect day for walking, 62 degrees, a bit overcast so I had no sun in my face on the return trip and the best was seeing the fox that ran across the street at the firestation. At first I wasn't sure what it was but then remembered talking to one of the firefighters a few weeks ago and she had asked if we had seen the fox, at that time we hadn't. Back to my walk, best time yet for three miles, 46:29. Keeping it in the mid 15 minutes for a pace.

Spent most of the day doing computer stuff, backing up blogs and pictures. Hadn't done it since the beginning of the year so I was really remiss. You would think I would have learned my lesson but sometimes it is so easy to just say I'll do it tomorrow.

Looks like we may get some more rain today, sure hope so. Not much else going on.

I Get to See the Kids

My walk today was pretty cold, only 49 degrees when I left the house and I don't think it warmed up any, plus it was pretty foggy out also. My pace is staying pretty much the same. Three mile in 47:02, hate to go over the 47 minute mark but it happens.

Off to watch the kids. They had eaten lunch already so we were able to play. If I sat on the floor today (I spend most of my time there) Kaleigh was climbing all over me. She is getting very good with just a one handed hold and just wavering around but no steps yet.

This was the look I got when I asked Riley to smile today.

We had a very good snack today. I brought cucumbers, radishes, and grape tomatoes. I shared the tomatoes, tried to share the others but had no takers. You can see the really enjoyed the tomatoes.

Then it was on to nap time, from the time I first put Kaleigh down to when she finally feel asleep was over an hour. She was very tired but fighting it all the way. She even laid with her head on my shoulder for a long time but didn't want to go in her crib. She finally went down and probably slept for a bit over an hour which is very good for her. Riley didn't want to nap either but as soon as he laid down he was out, this took about a half hour. During that time he got upset with me because I was making him nap and he told me to "Go!" Then he wanted me to come back. Then he fell asleep.

By the time they woke up it was just about dinner time. Made some mac and cheese and Kaleigh ate right away but Riley wasn't hungry for about an hour but when he did sit down he ate a huge bowl full.

This is Kaleigh in a new set of jammies, looking pretty cute.

This was the sunset on the way home. One of the good things about driving at this time of day.

Pretty Good Sports Day

Started my day with a very wet walk, so much for raining over night and stopping this morning. It rained well into the afternoon, but that is good. Could use some more rain just like it. Back to my walk, upped my distance to four miles with a time of 62:30, that is the exact same pace (15:37) I walked on Friday. How does that happen? Was a little stiff but it wore off by the end of the morning.

Made a quick trip to Publix, needed some more onions and peppers and then it was home for the day.

It was a good thing we postponed our trip to Blackpoint Wildlife Refuge yesterday otherwise Dan wouldn't have gotten any of the pressure washing done today because of the weather. We'll just go another weekend.

Our afternoon sports included NASCAR and Golf. Both were very good and had exciting finishes. Good to see that Tiger won, now they don't have to talk about when he will win after his surgery and eight months off.

In the NCAA Basketball and Hockey I'm zipping right along to the basement. Won't be making any big bucks on this.

We Found Our Floors

Had some errands to do this morning. One was at Lowe's, so Dan and I looked at the hardwood floors and I think we have found what we want. It's maple with a distressed finished and five inches wide. Not sure when we will start all of this but I really think this is what we want.

While we were at Lowe's ran into Mum, Dad, and Tammy. Visited for a few minutes and we were off the BJ's. Who do you think followed us there? Good guess. We still had a stop at Goodwill to drop off some stuff which has been sitting all ready to go for months, I really hate to think how long it has actually been.

It was home and chores, well Dan did chores and I played Animal Crossing on the Wii. Dan got all the outdoor furniture pressured washed and ready to be moved back into the pool area tomorrow. And I'm just getting started with Animal Crossing so I haven't accomplished much yet.

After dinner of steak on the grill we went for a walk so I could figure out where a mile was to add onto my three mile course to increase my distance.

It has been a very windy day and the temps didn't get quite as high as predicted. The shuttle landed and must have gone right over the house because this is the first time in a while we have heard the sonic booms and today they shook the house.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I walked again this morning, 3 miles in 46:51, so my pace is staying pretty steady. Next week will increase mileage on one day to get in a longer walk and build up some endurance.

I spent the rest of the day cleaning the house. I have pretty much ignored the things I don't like to do. Scrubbed the kitchen floor, it seems to get so dirty now don't really know why. There was laundry to be done and rugs and floors to be vacuumed. Well that is all done and I feel like I accomplished quite a bit today.

We just had a downpour, would really have liked to have seen it last longer but at least it was something. We are suppose to get more tomorrow night, hope it lasts all night.

Typical Thursday

A typical Thursday, met up with Tammy, Mum, and Dad. Head to the lake front for a walk. Today was a beautiful day to walk, Tammy and I did 2 miles and Mum and Dad did about 1 1/2 miles. Dad is really starting to move out with just the boot and cane.

Then we stop at Panera for a bagel and today we went to Lowe's and the gas station at BJ's. I picked up some paint swatches at Lowe's, one of these days we will decided on the color for our bedroom. It is the only room in the house we have done absolutely nothing too. Maybe it will be our next project. We only want to put in hardwood floors and paint so it isn't a really difficult project just haven't gotten around to it.

As I was leaving Tammy's, Dan called and said he was done for the day and heading home so he really did have an early day.

Andy called and asked us to bring Kaleigh's bathing over to the apartment, they might need it this weekend in Jacksonville. So we went to the bank and then had a visit with Andy. Didn't think we would see the kids because they were napping but they woke up before we left so we got some Play-doh time in.

Just took it easy for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Everybody Do A Happy Dance

The goal has been met and I lost one pound this week bringing my total to 75 pounds. Now for the hard part, maintenance. It has always been my downfall in the past but I feel much better about it this time around. So positive thinking for me.

Did all my errands after my meeting and then was off to watch the kids this afternoon. Kaleigh is starting to get into trouble now that she is pulling herself up and walking around on the furniture. Today she got her fingers caught in the door of the entertainment center, pulled dvd's off the shelf and opened one of the drawers. So hands are going to be full for awhile.

Riley was very happy to see me because he thinks that is when the play-doh can come out and he can play. He wasn't even interested in the strawberries and grapes I brought for him. Although once we were done playing he did eat them along with some cheese. He likes lots of different things just not always at the time you want to feed it to him.

Dan and I pulled into the driveway at the same time tonight, one of his earliest nights this week. He is shooting for a couple of short days for Thursday and Friday. That would be nice.

IKEA and Play-doh

I promised Riley I would come over early so we could play with the play-doh before we went shopping at IKEA. I arrived with a bag full of the play-doh from our house and you would have thought it was gold coins as excited as he got. We played for quite a while then put everything away and got ready to head out as soon as Nikki and Kaleigh got home.

We had a good time walking all around IKEA but my big purchases for the day were some Lingonberry Preserves and a potato ricer, both for Dan.

On the way home Riley fell asleep and actually went right into bed when we got home. Kaleigh was ready for lunch so made her a grilled cheese sandwich which she ate in no time.

I got home and watched some of my recorded shows which made the afternoon pass by very quickly.

They Grow Up to Fast

Today was the first day I walked in the rain, I'm sure it will happen many more times in the next few months and be much worst then it was today. Still it must have hurried me along because I did my three miles in 46:37. That is what I would like my pace to be for a bit.

The kids were in such good moods today, we had a really good time playing and just doing nothing. Kaleigh took a nap and Riley was in his room being quiet which sometimes is all I can ask for.

Isn't this just the cutest dress?

She really likes the chair and was clapping along with the music.

Helping Riley pick out a movie, even though he didn't want any help.

Digging down deep for a toy. Hard to believe it has only been a couple of weeks that she has been pulling herself up, she is an old pro at it.

Going to help Riley again, she just wants to be near him.

Chris stopped by for a visit after dinner. Riley went from being all settled down to a wildman to show off to Chris. Kaleigh just flirted with him and wanted to be held.

Shortly after Chris left Nikki arrived home. When I got home Chris was still there so I got to visit a bit more with him.

Chuck E Cheese's Here We Come

Today was the big birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's for Breann. Let me tell you the girl that worked our party earned her keep. She worked very hard and did an outstanding job.

We were very busy from the time we arrived until we departed. First was rides and games. A couple of the rides had built in cameras so we could get some pictures. They turned out very cute.

A shot of Riley and Nikki don't very often get this combo on film (ok, not really film but you know what I mean) and we have been trying extra hard to get them.

Riley having a good time at the games.

Sami and Kaleigh enjoying the slide.

Breann trying to figure out just what she wants to do with her tokens.

If one ball at a time is good, two must be even better.

Even the big kids were having a good time.

As you can see this big kid got to sit at the kids table.

Breann had a cupcake cake, and you would not have believed the amount of frosting on it.

The Birthday Girl with her special cupcake.

Chuck E. Cheese leading the birthday parade.

Blowing out the candles. When did Jared get so big and young adult looking?

The Birthday Medal, there sure are advantages of having a party here.

Enjoying the cupcake. That was happening with lots of people.

The Birthday Girl and Chuck E.

Another happy customer enjoying her cupcake.

Still enjoying the cupcake.

Opening gifts.

Examining everything in the goody bag, the glasses were a big hit along with the stickers.

Playing peek-a-boo.

Kaleigh was sound asleep by this time. She actually fell asleep in my arms, something she never does so she must have been really tired.

We all had a great time and would recommend Chuck E. Cheese's as the place to have a party if you don't want to do it at home.

Outdoor Cleanup

Started the day with a walk. Dan came with me and we had gotten about a half mile when the sole of one of his shoes started flapping. He turned around and headed home, by the time he got there most of the sole was off so they were retired to the trash can. My three miles clocked in at 47:03.

Then we were off to the bank and Home Depot. Got some potting soil, a new flower pot, and a bunch of plants. The pool area is going to look beautiful when all is finished.

When we got home Dan moved everything out of the screen enclosure so the whole area can be cleaned up. He will be pressure washing it tomorrow. I was inside sewing and cleaning up a bit.

Kim, Dennis, the kids, and Tammy and Tom stopped by for a visit this afternoon. They have had a very busy day. Today Breann got to pick whatever she wanted to do for her birthday weekend. So far they had been fishing, flown the kite (Dennis got it stuck in a tree), and gone to the water park at the Saint Cloud Lake Front. It was pretty cold at the lake front but that didn't stop the kids from having a good time. We visited for a bit and they were off to do some more fun things. But before they left everyone had to try out my hula hoop, we will just say that some people were much better at it than others.

Not much else for the rest of the afternoon, just took it easy and watched the race.

Was Not Expecting This!

Spring makes the world a happy place,
You see a smile on every face.
Flowers come out and birds arrive,
Oh, isn't it grand to be a live?

I always feel like I've accomplished so much when I start my day with a walk, today it was three miles in 47:00. I was coming up to the driveway looking at the GPS thinking I might clock in under the 47 minute mark but just as it click to three miles, it click to 47 minutes. Guess that will be my goal for the next week.

When I got back, started working on Kaleigh's dress and did all I could until I got the zipper foot I needed. Cut the fabric for Riley's overalls and will start sewing them this weekend.

While I was doing this heard a noise outside didn't think much of it until it sounded like it was right on the front porch. Looked out the window and this is what I saw:

Must have been our friends that left us a present in the backyard a couple of weeks ago. I opened the front door and talked to them for a while. They didn't look like they would be leaving any time soon, until a foal came running down the road and they decided they should chase after him/her.

Didn't see them when I left a while later so I guess they went back to their field at the end of the road.

I was off to get the zipper foot I needed at Jo Ann's, I have spent so much time at that end of 192 I'm beginning to think I live down there. Stopped in to see Chris on my way home and visited with him for a bit.

Then it was off to see Andy and Kaleigh. Nikki and Riley were at playgroup so I missed them. I wanted to try Kaleigh's dress on her again to get a better idea of where I need to hem it and to size the elastic in the bloomers waistband. She looked really cute in the dress, can't wait to see it all finished on her.

Got home at about noon and started laundry and finished up the dress. So I really did have a very productive day.

On the Go

First order of business today was to get gas. Yesterday when I was at Wal-Mart the gas was $1.95 and I couldn't believe it was that high. Everywhere else had been about $1.85 so I decided to wait until today and it paid off in 24 hours the price dropped .11 cents. Why is that? So this time I made a good call.

I was off to spend the morning with Mum, Dad, and Tammy. Dropped Mum and Dad's car off to get the brakes checked and then down to the lake front for a walk. Tammy and I walked about 1.5 - 1.75 not really sure, we were just walking to get a walk in this morning.

Onto Thursday stuff, bagel at Panera, Lowe's, and BJ's. Picked up the car then the most exciting stop of the day, dropping off all of Dad's walking equipment. He is down to just his boot and the cane. Really nice to get out of the car and not have to unload something. I only did it a couple of times and appreciate not having to do it, so I can just guess how Mum and Tammy feel.

Hung around Tammy's for a bit to do some stuff on the computer and visit. Then I was heading home.

Spent most of the afternoon sewing and got quite a bit done. Next project is some overalls for Riley, shouldn't take me to long once I get them cut out. That is my least favorite job dealing with sewing.

She's on the Go

Well I should have known, this was a week that I shouldn't do well at Weight Watchers (I seem to have a cycle) and it held true. I was up .6 pounds, not a catastrophe but I really would have liked to have lost the .2. There is always next week and the week after. I'm still within my range for maintenance so no problems there.

The kids were in great moods today, we played and played. Kaleigh pulled herself up on everything she could get her hands on. When Riley started doing this he was walking in no time.

A Day at Home

Just a quiet day at home. I started sewing Kaleigh's Easter dress, have to try it on her before I finish it up.

Another walk this morning, sure has been beautiful. Kind of strange not to be carrying my camera but that isn't the purpose of these walks and I take plenty of pictures. I walked three mile in 48:31 just a bit slower than yesterday but I was shooting for that. My first mile was very slow and I picked it up after that.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

The lion is decked out in some of his finest.

Mama, Dada, We Have a Problem

Started my day with another walk, better time and more distance, but I can see now that the 1/2 marathon is really possible.

You may think this is the problem, macaroni and cheese girl. No, this is just an everyday occurrence when she eats but today she looked exceptional cute.

Of course I had lots of help from Riley cleaning her up. We think we got everything.

Riley has just gone crazy with put words together to form sentences. Today it was, "Where's the remote, change the channel." We usually have one of his movies in and it is just kind of in the background while we do all our other things. Like coloring, reading, playing cars, you know the important things in life. Then sometime between 1700 and 1800 I change the channel to the local news so I can see what is going on and the weather. Well, today I heard about changing the channel, he wasn't to happy when I didn't change it right away but got over it.

Here is our problem for the day. Kaleigh had her dinner and her bottle, was rubbing her eyes so I figured she was ready to go to bed for the night. Wasn't to early for this to happen. Put her down and she was just babbling away sounding like she would fall asleep then the babbling changed a bit not even sure what was different just was. So I went to check on her and this is what I found:

Guess it is time to lower the mattress in the crib. She is going to be walking anytime now and getting everywhere faster.

Serious Walking

Started the day by going to Target because they had a gazebo on sale that looked like it would work on the deck. Decided to go to the one on 192 because it is easy to get to on a Sunday. Well when we got there they had none in the store, they just went on sale today and it was only an hour after the store opened. So we headed to Hunter's Creek and the same thing there, I was pretty disappointed because I though our search would be over and now we have to keep looking.

Didn't do much the rest of the day.

After dinner Dan and I went out for a walk. I have decided now that I reached my weight goal I have to do something more to maintain so I'm going to walk the Disney Princess Half Marathon next year. So we were measuring out the route I walk and getting some baselines so I can keep track of my distances and times. Pretty soon I will be including them in my blog so I have a permanent record of them. Plus if I tell people I am more likely to follow through.

Don't forget to scroll to the next entry I just posted about our trip to Busch Gardens.

Busch Gardern

Busch Gardens pictures here. (Please let me know if this link works)

We all met up at the front of the park after we had a strange time getting into the parking lot. We pulled up to the parking ticket line and were third in line, should have been through in about 30 seconds but six minutes later we finally moved. Have no idea what the problem was but it sure took a long time to resolve. All of that was forgotten as soon as we got in the park and got our picture taken. At this point Michael and Tommy went off on their own and I never saw them again.

Decided Jungala would be our destination, little did we know it would take us two hours to get there. We ended up stopping at all the rides and exhibits we passed that anyone wanted to do. So it was a pretty leisurely stroll.

First was the old wooden roller coaster, then the Gwazi Gliders, stop to look at and feed the lorikeets. SheiKra was next and then on to Stanley Falls Flume. And finally we made it to Jungala, lots of climbing and exploring for the kids. Riley and Kaleigh went to the toddler water area and had the best time, as always Riley didn't want to leave but we finally got him away.

By this time we were all hungry so we headed back the was we came to the Zambia Smokehouse, bbq for lunch. Everything was pretty good. We took our time and enjoyed just sitting down for a bit.

After lunch we split up and Tammy and Kim and their group headed to the Rhino Rally Ride and we went back to watch the tigers and look at all the other animals in the park. We were just heading in to look at the gorillas and who should we run into but the other half of our group. They were heading to ice cream and then out of the park.

We headed over to the last ride of the day Montu, a big roller coaster. Dan, the kids, and I found a place in the shade and Andy and Nikki went on the ride.

Made a spin through Africa and then we we off for ice cream and out of the park. Had a great day, the weather was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Had a Fantastic Day

We just returned from Busch Gardens, the weather was gorgeous and we all had a really good time. I will post tomorrow to tell you all about our adventure.

Here is one picture to tide you over.

I Love Baseball

Tammy and I headed to Leesburg this morning to watch Jodi's brother play some baseball. He plays for Loras College in Iowa. We arrived just as the game was starting, so we timed our trip very well.

This is Tyler in one of his first at bats. He had a pretty good day. In the second game his hit tied the game up and sent it into extra innings leading to the second win of the day.

Scoreboard from the first game.

We had a really great time, at first it felt like it was going to get hot and unbearable but the sun finally got up over the stadium and we were in the shade and a breeze came along making for a very beautiful day.

We got home at about 1530 or so, didn't really look at the clock. Dan was already home, he had most of the afternoon off and just took it easy.

After being busy for the last three days finally had to get some laundry done, so that was my task for the evening.

Thursday

Spent the day with Mum, Dad, and Tammy. Started with a walk at the lake front, it was really beautiful. Then on to our errands, Panera (have to have that Thursday bagel), BJ's, AAA, and Publix. This may not look look much but we didn't get back to the house until almost 1300 and we left at 0715.

I stayed at Tammy's for a while, to do some things on the computer. Then I headed home. I remembered to stop for gas on the way home, which I wasn't sure I would remember to do.

Spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on things at home. My days seem to go by so fast lately.

The Time Has Finally Come

It was a very good day at Weight Watchers, got to my goal weight but I still want to lose .2 pounds more so my weight lost is an even number, it's just the way I am. But I start my six weeks of maintenance and then become a lifetime member. This time I intend to keep going to the meeting because that is the only way I seem to be able to hold myself accountable.

Celebrated by taking Andy, Nikki and the kids to Applebee's for lunch. Had one of the Weight Watchers meals, Chili Lime Tilapia, it was excellant. We also did some shopping at Jo-Ann's and Target. Then we had three very tired people in the back seat on the drive home. Just so you know Nikki and I sit in the front seat.

Dan was home early for the first time in quite a while, we even got to eat dinner together. I don't always wait if I know it will be after 1800 that he will be getting home. To long between lunch and dinner for me.

I guess I should have mentioned where Andy and Nikki went on their weekend retreat. It was Blue Spring State Park, they rented a really nice cabin and determined it would be a great place for a family get together. Lots of fun activities to keep us occupied and have a good time doing. I look forward to doing this in the future.

I Already Miss Them

Another good night, everyone slept well. After going down at 1800 last night Kaleigh didn't wake up until 0400, had a bottle and went back to sleep until about 0800. I guess I tired them out as much as they tired me out.

After breakfast, got everyone dressed and we headed out for our walk. Today we just walked over to the housing area behind us and went through there.

Got back and did some picking up around the house, wanted everything together for when Andy and Nikki arrived so nothing would be left behind. A few things got left but I'll just take them over tomorrow when I go.

From this picture you would think that Riley took a nap right there. No, he was there for about three minutes and then he was on the go again.

Had lunch and shortly after that Andy and Nikki arrived. They had a really good time but were glad to see the kids. Got everything all loaded up and off they went.

I got stuff put away from when the kids were here and then I pretty much just relaxed the afternoon away. It was really fun to have them here and I'm sure we will be doing it again.

Two Years Ago

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Nikki and Andy!

They Tuckered Me Out

Sleeping went much better then I could ever imagine. Kaleigh woke up at about 0510 and had a bottle. As you can see she had a toe problem, I think some new jammies are in her future. After finishing her bottle it was back to bed for her.

Riley got up at about 0800 and was ready for some breakfast. This morning it was french toast sticks and strawberries. Let me tell you the strawberries this week were delicious, will be buying more on Wednesday when I go shopping. He would have eaten all of them if I had put them out.

Kaleigh got up at about 0830 and her breakfast was 1/2 a french toast stick and banana.

At about 0900 we headed out for our walk, the playground was our destination. Once we got there Kaleigh spent most of her time in the stroller but she didn't seem to mind.

For some reason today Riley didn't want to go down the slide, it wasn't a very big so I don't know what the problem was. He had no problem going up and down the stairs.

We also tried the swings but he didn't have any interest in them either. So Kaleigh got to swing for a bit and then we were off to walk back to the house.

Kaleigh fell asleep on the way home and went right down when we got home. I thought this would be the perfect time to have some fun with the play-doh. We started playing in the living room on the coffee table and then Riley packed everything up and we moved to the kitchen and play there. As you can see we were doing just fine.

Then I went to check on Kaleigh and this is what I came back too. I don't think this play-doh will ever be the same.

Kaleigh got up and it was time for lunch. They both ate pretty good and then we went outside to play some more.

Riley had really been looking forward to playing on the slide (thanks Cheri, he loves it) and he was up and down it numerous times.

He also had a great time exploring the yard. He checked out the Honda and the GEO and then just walked around the yard picking things up and examining them, by the time he was done we were all pretty dirty.

Kaleigh was watching us draw with the sidewalk chalk, I will be very glad when she is up and walking.

We stayed outside for about an hour and by this time it was getting pretty hot. When we got back inside everyone had some juice to help us cool down. Played for a bit and then it was time for naps, everyone went right down.

After dinner Kaleigh and Riley got baths, they really needed them. They were stinky, smelly babies. We played for a bit and Kaleigh was getting cranky so off to bed she went at about 1800, don't know how she will do through the night going to bed so early but we shall see.

Riley stayed up to see Baapa get home. They went for a walk with the wagon and had a good time. Riley finally was ready to head off to bed just before 2100 and he was out like a light. The same thing I will be doing shortly.
