Quiet Day

We only had to go to the bank this morning and then we stopped by to visit Andy, Nikki, and the kids. Riley wasn't feeling well last night but seems to be feeling better now. Must have been a stomach thing because he was throwing up.

The rest of the day was spent napping, watching football, and listening to the rain. Looks like none of the football games on the east coast escaped the rain and made for some interesting play.

In between that stuff got some laundry done and worked on some digital scrapbooking and Dan got all his chores done.

As you can see we live a very exciting life, but I really needed a day to do nothing.

Cookie Party

Finished up my last batch of cookies this morning, don't think I will be making cookies for a while. Although I have had a request for chocolate chip cookies so I'll have to see how I feel.

Made a trip to the Dollar Store to pick up a few things for the party and that was it for venturing out today.

Straightened up the house and did some vacuuming. Made my layered bean dip for the party and by this time Tammy, Kim and the girls arrived. Then everyone else started arriving after that.

Had a great time at the party. Never seen so many cookies. Sure hope that Chris comes to visit so I can give him some. Can't give them to Andy and Nikki anymore because Nikki got her own batch of cookies this year.

Here is the spread:

Our annual Cookie Party photo. Is this our 7th or 8th year, need some help. Can't remember if there was one the first year we got back from Spain or the first one was in 2002.

Anyways here we all are, courtesy of Dan.

After this we did the gift swap and things were going very well until the end when people started stealing others gifts. But you couldn't go wrong this year, all the gifts were great and most were snowman related.

Tree Day

Today was set up the Christmas tree. I started at about 0530 this morning and finished up at about 1500. I think this was the fastest I have ever put this one up. Dan gave me a hand this morning putting the lights and that saved me a bunch of time. But we had to make a run to Wal-Mart because I didn't have enough lights for the bottom of the tree. Last year I went through all my light and threw away ones that weren't working great or I didn't have replacement bulbs for and couldn't get them anymore. So now I'm back up to a full inventory of lights.

This morning, about 1100 - 1130 Tammy, Kim, Sami, and Breann came over to help set up a couple of my smaller trees and of course I couldn't find the trees. This happens every year there is always stuff I can't find until I empty every bin (I have about 12 bins and all the boxes the bigger trees are in). So Breann helped with the big tree and everyone else lent moral support and encouraged me.

Here is the finished product, it looks really nice in person.

I think I will just work a bit everyday this week on the rest of the decorations and then I should be done.

It Was a Great Meal

A great day and a great meal, what more could we ask for. Here we all are, can't believe after taking about five pictures trying to get Riley in the shot I didn't get Kaleigh in this one. Good thing I took others of just her.

Starting on the left and going around the table: Lauri, Tammy, Tom, Cole (AKA peanut butter pie eater), Sami, Breann, Riley, Nikki, Andy, Kaleigh, Dan, Ashley, Chris, Dennis, Kim, Dad, and Mum.

After the meal we went outside and took another group shot, this time you can see everyone.

Hope your day was as good as ours and hopefully next year more of you will be joining us for the big meal.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone has a great day.

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Thanksgiving

Bright and early start to my day. Picked up the pies from Village Inn. We got two peanut butter, two key lime, a french silk, a pecan, and a cherry. Found out that you can order your pies online now and pick them up when you want. That will be very convenient.

Then it was off to Publix for the potato rolls and water rolls and some veggies. I was picking up the turnip and said to myself, "Isn't that interesting they are playing Downtown by Petula Clark on the background music won't Tammy find this funny." She would find it funny because that is her ringtone on my cell phone.

Well I do the rest of my shopping and it takes me a bit longer than usual because I'm still getting use to the layout of the new Publix. Then I'm out in the parking lot loading my groceries into the car and my cell phone rings and it is "Downtown" so I know Tammy is calling but it can't be because she is working. Well come to find out when I heard "Downtown" in the store it was Tammy calling also, she got out of work early and was heading home. We both had a good laugh about that.

Got home and went right to work. Made a pumpkin pie, started laundry, pulled out all the tables and tablecloths, cut up pepperoni, salami, and cheese, filled up the drink refrigerator, made onion dip, and all those little things that need to be done the day before Thanksgiving.

Then Mum, Dad, and Tammy came to visit. Got this picture of the Pilgrim Lion from Mum. Saved me the trip down to the lakefront to get it. Don't like to miss any of the lion's costumes.

Didn't do much this afternoon but watch shows I had Tivoed. Because of the holiday Dan is going to have a late night tonight instead of tomorrow, but he has Friday off and one job on Saturday.

Almost Done

Did my Wal-Mart errands today and was surprised at how many things the just didn't have. I still have to do Publix tomorrow so I can get everything then. I did get Kaleigh's new car seat, they finally got some in, didn't have the one I wanted over the weekend.

Also went to the Post Office, actually went twice. The first time I was hoping to get may Christmas stamps from the vending machine but they no longer have that machine, just the one that takes debit or credit cards and only sells the regular stamps. So after Wal-Mart it was almost 0900 so I went back to the Post Office to go to the counter service. I was the second person in line and still took five minutes to get waited on. There were three people at the counter but only one was waiting on customers not sure what the other two were doing. But I finally got my stamps.

Then I stopped by to drop off a CD of pictures for Andy and Nikki and ended up staying about two hours. Just visiting and playing with the kids. Again when I went to leave, Riley thought he should be coming with me and I had to tell him no again. One of these days he will be coming with me.

At home did some work on the computer and installed the car seat. It was much easier to install after having helped Andy put the same one in their car. Went right in for me.

Be sure to watch the video in the previous entry it is really cute.

Mrs. Fix-It

You will never guess what I did today! I never could have done it if I wasn’t Kim’s sister, you will understand when I tell you I had to take my I-pod apart and disconnect the battery to reset everything so it would work. Kim has always been known as the one to take things apart, me not so much. But now my I-pod is working again and for a few minutes, well maybe an hour I thought it was a goner. Did have one casualty, the hold button went flying and I haven’t found it yet. Will keep looking but I have checked and I can buy a new one but what I’m really hoping for is someone has an old I-pod that doesn’t work and is just sitting in a drawer that I can steal the hold button from, Andy, do you hear me Andy?

I now know that you can find anything on the internet because that is how I figured all of this out and it was very easy to do.

I finally give up looking for the hold button and went to work doing other things around the house. When it came time to empty the trash under the desk I sat in the chair and leaned over to reach the trash can and what is sitting in the coaster I keep on the desk but the hold button. So now my I-Pod is almost as good as new. Couple of scratches from the opening but that is it.

Spent the rest of the day just doing the little things that need to be done before Thanksgiving.

I had scanned these pictures a couple of days ago and wanted to put them on my blog but forgot so here they are now.

Not sure what year it was but the bottom two were Mount Cranmore and the top one is somewhere around there. Looks like we took a drive up to the mountains to look at the foliage.

What a Day!

Started pretty normal, breakfast at McDonald's. A trip to Home Depot and Wal-Mart. Then home to make more cookies. This time it was peanut butter, the cookie part is all done but I still have to make the cream filling. Will probably do that on Friday when I make the last batch of cookies.

Then I shuffled everything around in Chris's room so the Christmas decorations can go in there until I begin setting everything up on Friday. Wanted some decorations for the Cookie Party, so I will at least get the big tree up.

Then it was time to take pictures. Nikki had asked if I would take some photos of a couple of her friends and their families and we picked today to do that.

I started by taking some pictures of Andy, Nikki and the kids. Here is Riley thinking he is a pretty big boy.

Then we have the Christmas Princess here.

Then Nikki's friends showed up and luckily they came about an hour apart so I got one family done as the other was arriving. Got some good shots and hope they are happy with them. This is why I don't turn my hobbies into a profession, to much pressure and not as much fun.

Dan and Andy got the Christmas decorations out of the attic and they are just waiting for me.

Can't believe how fast the day went by and before I knew it the clock was dinging 1700 and I still had bunches to do.

I worked on editing the pictures, wanted to get them done right away so I didn't have to worry about them. Then I e-mailed them off which took awhile because the files were so big could only send one at a time.

And that is why I'm posting so late, it has been a long time since I was this late. Certainly won't make a habit of this.

Guess Where We Are Going

Well most everyone knows now but it is still pretty exciting. Next Thanksgiving we will be spending a week at the beach in the beach houses. I was on the phone at 0800 this morning to get our reservations and at first they were only going to make it for one day because you can only make the reservations one year out and today will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving next year. I asked Paul (my new favorite person) if there was anything else we could do to ensure we would get the whole week for two of the beach houses. He wasn't sure what to do but said he would ask his supervisor when she got in and call me back. He did call me back and we were able to get the full week today. Certainly made my day and I don't have to call back everyday to get the whole week. Now we just have to wait a year but we have a lot planned already between now and then.

By this time we were actually in the parking lot at BJ's, thank goodness for cell phones. Had already done our shopping there and were heading for Publix and then it was home.

Made another batch of cookies, these are oatmeal-craisin-chocolate chip. Will probably do the peanut butter cookies tomorrow. This is when I'm really glad we have a big freezer and always have room for everything.

Dan got a coat of sealer on the blue chair, hope to have that one done this week.

Not much else going on, just getting ready for Thanksgiving and the Cookie Party. I have a zillion lists for things I need to get done.

Sunrise to Sunset

Walked out the door this morning to head to the lake front for our walk and decided to take a picture and I had no card in the camera. So back in the house I went to get the card. When I came out this time the owl flew into the big pine tree in the front yard and I wanted to see if I could get a shot of it. But it was still dark enough that I couldn't even find it in the tree.

This is a picture of the sunrise from the driveway, now you see why I usually walk down to the fire station to get these shots. Just a massive web of wires in front of our house.

Then as I was driving down our road I could see the fog rolling in.

I finally did make it to the lake front and pulled into the parking lot right behind Mum, Dad, and Tammy. This is what I caught of the sunrise there.

It was a very nice morning, about 10 degrees warmer this morning. More people were out walking today also.

Found out that next year is the Centennial of Saint Cloud.

After walking I headed to Wal-mart to get the things I needed that weren't available at the commissary yesterday.

Got home and decided it would be a good day to make cookies again, this time for the cookie party next week. I should have read the recipe before I decided to make these cookies and not just look at the picture and think that they looked to good not to make. I had to melt chocolate and stir everything together slowly and by hand. Then I was suppose to form the dough into logs and refrigerate them and slice them up before baking. I decided to just chill the dough and drop it by the teaspoon on the cookie sheet and they turned out just fine. Even passed the taste test when Dan got home. Put all the one I needed for the cookie party in the freezer. Still have a couple more kinds I'm going to make. Maybe this weekend.

When Dan got home we went to the bank and stopped by to visit Andy, Nikki and the kids. Riley went out for a walk with Baappa, his favorite thing to do. I stayed and visited. When the walkers got back it was time for us to head home. Whenever we leave Riley thinks he is going with us and says goodbye to everyone and heads for the door. He is always very disappointed when he doesn't get to come with us.

Here is our sunset tonight.

Commissary Day

Started with a walk at the lake front and no one was walking but us, it was kind of strange. It wasn't really that cold and there was no wind so it was really good walking weather.

After the walk Tammy and I stopped by Sonic and then headed over to Patrick. We walked in and couldn't believe all the people that were there. It wasn't until I was about 1/2 way through that Tammy came back (she is very speedy when she shops) and said she thought it was all the snow-birds back for the winter and I really think she was right.

This was the longest it has ever taken us at the commissary, I think we were in the store for more than 2.5 hours. I'm glad I was shopping for the rest of November and December so I don't have to go back until the new year.

When we got to Tammy's had to look through every bag because they mixed everything together and we wanted to be sure we got all of Tammy's stuff.

I got home and unloaded and unpacked. I actually unpacked each bag as I brought it in and that worked really well with only me to do it. Got everything put away and gathered up the stuff I bought for Andy and Nikki (I also buy stuff for Chris) and took it over to the apartment. Visited for a bit and then Riley and I played in his blue tunnel, he really liked it when I would get stuck in it.

Then it was home and time to sit down for a bit. By this time it was almost 1530 and it was the first time all day that I got to sit down at the house.

Then I made up my list for the stuff I couldn't get at the commissary that I need before Thanksgiving so I can get it tomorrow.

This being Thursday Dan is in Leesburg and that area and probably won't be home until between 1900 - 2000. He only goes there once a week and there are always a bunch of jobs.

Still Cold

Today was the coldest morning yet, only 38 degrees when I got up at 0500. I still had to leave the house at 0530 but I made sure I was all bundled up and warm. Another good week at Weight Watcher's, down 1.4 lbs. I think the weighing in on Wednesday is going to work well for the holidays. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas fall on a Thursday so I have a whole week to recover from them.

Did all my errands yesterday so I went straight home and watch recorded shows until it was time to go watch the kids. Riley was ready to have lunch and Kaleigh was just waking up from her nap. We spent the afternoon watching the Bee Movie, it was pretty cute and really held Riley's interest. Plus he liked when we danced to the music at the end.

Dan got home shortly after me and had the idea to go to Publix for subs for dinner, which turned out to be the best idea of the day.

Now that it gets dark so early it seems like the day is over with so quickly.

It's Cold!!!

Not much going on around here today. I spent most of the day trying to keep warm. Do you know how hard it is to type when you are wearing gloves? Trust me, it is very difficult.

I just couldn't seem to get warm and the temp in the house only got down to 70 so it really doesn't justify turning on the heat. So I just put on more clothes and wrapped a blanket around myself.

Tomorrow isn't going to be any better so I'll just have to figure something out.

Errand Day

Started my day by checking to see when most of the stores I wanted to go to opened and found that a couple opened at 0800, so I was off at about 0730. Had a whole list of things to do starting at Kohl's to look for a Christmas outfit for Riley but had no luck. Then it was on to Michael's, and Target.

Stopped by Andy and Nikki's to drop off cookies and see everyone. They were on their way out so I only got to see them for a few minutes.

Then it was Hallmark to get my ornaments for this year. I usually pick them up much earlier than this but for some reason just didn't feel like it. I also picked up my gift for the cookie party, one more thing to cross off my list.

Then I headed out to visit Mum and Dad to drop off some cookies for them. We visited for a bit and it was home for me.

Worked on some of my crafts and tried to stay warm.

It was much colder today then I thought it was going to be and it is suppose to get colder again tomorrow night. Might even have a freeze. If I had a winter coat I would be digging it out right now. As it is will just have to wear a sweater under a hoodie and I certainly won't be wearing sandals anytime soon.

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Finally...

I was shooting for $1.99 for a gallon of gas and today we got lucky and it was $1.92. Now I would be happy if it could just remain constant for a while.

Did all our errands this morning and about froze my fingers off. So glad I've been wearing shoes instead of sandals otherwise my toes would have frozen off too. I hadn't expected it to get this cold with the front that came through, it was only 47 this morning and never got out of the 60's today. Suppose to be like this until at least Thursday.

Because it was so cool in the house I made it cookie baking day. Made oatmeal cookies; plain oatmeal, raisin-nut oatmeal, and chocolate chip-nut oatmeal. So they are here for the taking.

Dan went out shooting with Chris at the Moss Park range. Dan got to shoot his new gun for the first time, won't be doing it very often because the ammo is very expensive but he really likes the gun.

Disney Marketplace

What a great day we had! Went to Downtown Disney, not really to do anything more than walk around and have lunch.

We parked down at the West End by Disney Quest and took a leisurely stroll to the Marketplace. Part of the strolling was because Riley did a lot of walking today and he gets side-tracked very easily and we were in no hurry.

Stopped by the Lego Store and looked at all the new things they have in there. Then we just wandered around and looked in several of the stores.

Here are the two monkeys climbing the fence.

Today was also Riley's day to try on hats. These were a couple of the cute ones. The first one is Grumpy's Christmas hat.

This one was at the Rainforest Cafe and I took this picture right after we walked in and Andy and Nikki were way ahead of us. We walked around the store for a bit and who comes over with the same hat on but Andy, it was pretty funny.

And of course the princess had to try on her crown.

We went to lunch at the Earl of Sandwich and all our sandwiches were very good so I'm sure we will visit here again.

Here is the happy family in front of the Christmas tree by the Earl of Sandwich.

Right there in front of the tree was the kids water playground and who can refuse a little boy some fun. Although I think it was just as much fun for us to watch him.

He was constantly sticking his face right down by the water hole and a couple of times it got him, but it didn't bother him in the least. I was never in the right place at the right time to get him getting squirted.

I think this little boy has the call of the sea in his blood.

We decided to take the boat to Port Orleans - French Quarter and walk around.

They are rebuilding the Treehouses and this one is just the base.

And this one is just about finished. They are suppose to become a part of the Disney Vacation Club.

When we got to the French Quarter walked right by the playground so Riley got to play some more.

Then we went to the food court and had some beignets and I think Kaleigh was eying them here. She did get to taste the powdered sugar.

Then it was back to the Marketplace.

I think this is a little boy that loves his Baapa very much.

We were ready to call it a day so we had another stroll back to the West End and headed home. Riley was asleep within about 10 minutes and went right into bed when we got to the apartment.

Today we also celebrated Kaleigh's 1/2 birthday. Had a little cake from Publix for her.

She wasn't very interested in the candle or blowing it out, just wanted to stick her hands in the frosting.

She wasn't to sure about the taste, it was a lot different from the cereal that she has only been eating for about 2 - 3 weeks. She thought it was much more fun just to rub it around on the tray.

By this time it was almost 1600 and we were ready to head home.

Where Did the Cool Go?

Out for a walk again this morning, there were a lot of people along the lake front today and most were trying to run us over on their bikes.

I was home by about 0800 and spent the day trying to pay no attention to how hot it was getting outside and inside the house. Once I turn the ac off I hate to turn it back on until next year, so hopefully it will cool down again.

When Dan got home we headed over to visit with Andy and Nikki. Riley was still napping so we played with Kaleigh and talked. Riley got up and went for a walk with Baapa, one of his favorite things to do.

Got home at about 1730 and had some dinner. Now we are just waiting to see if the shuttle will go up tonight.

Adventuring We Will Go

Tammy called me at about 0600 and said they weren't going for a walk but were going on an adventure. Before she could say anymore I told her I would go anywhere didn't need to know where. Made plans to be at her house by 0700, wanted to finish up the project I was working on. She did call me back and tell me to bring my camera and a diet coke.

This is what we saw right after crossing 192 and heading to the coast. If you look carefully at the first picture (click on it) you will see a zebra. Bet you didn't know the savannah's of Africa were between Tammy's house and Titusville.

Of course the first stop of the day was Kim's Donuts in Titusville, this is the first time anyone had gone during the week and at this particular time of day all the high school kids were there getting breakfast. But it was worth the wait. We stopped at a picnic area to eat the donuts and enjoy the view of the river.

This is where we spent the rest of our day.

This three mile drive took us about 2.5 hours, there was a lot to see.

Only saw two alligators today and this was the smaller one.

Spiders were the main thing for some reason. We were driving along and I saw this one from the car and asked Tammy to stop.

Just looking out over the marsh.

Our second spider, the web of this one is what caught Dad's and my eye. It was huge and spanned the water along the side of the road. Dad said it was about 18 feet from end to end.

This is the center of the web, kind of hard to see but gives you an idea of just how bit it was.

We saw lots of osprey and this was a lucky shot that I got, just was following him with the camera and he flew overhead.

Our third spider, I think it was the biggest of the day.

Dad and Tammy seeing what was in and over the water.

A big bunch of birds.

The first of two pygmy rattlesnakes. I spotted him as we were walking and didn't know what it was. So I reached over to move the branch and he moved a bit and that was when I figured out it was a snake. All stretched out he was probably 6 - 7" long.

This was the second one and he was a bit bigger then the first.

Had a really great day and the weather was perfect. Had some rain for about 10 minutes and there was always a breeze blowing. We would like to make this a monthly trip to see how everything changes.
