Mayflies Everywhere

Another walk at the lake front today. I had to put gas in the car and go to the bank, so seeing as how we were already out might as well go for our walk.

This is the first time we have seen so many mayflies. They were gathered around all the lights and thick as can be. When we rolled the stroller over them (not because I wanted to, but because we couldn't avoid them) it sounded like rice krispies; snap, crackle and pop.

Just as we got to the other side of the marina we met GG and Jagee. They were the lucky ones, finishing up their walk and not just starting out. Chatted for a few minuted and then continued on.

We had the breeze and the sun on our way out so it wasn't to bad and when we turned around, having the sun at our back was much better.

We saw this heron on the way back, it was stalking something in the water so we stopped and watched. One time he actually caught something, not sure what it was but the heron seemed happy with it. Got these action photos of him going after something but not catching it.

Found out that the other end of the walk is closed because they are putting in another pond. Hope this will be the end of the construction.

Riley finally went down for his nap at about 1130, he just didn't want to go to sleep. I put him on the couch and he laid there for quite a while and was quiet so I carried him into his bed and he dropped off to sleep.

I had the pleasure of Andy's company for lunch. He moved to the Saint Cloud job today and decided to come home and cool off for a half hour. Don't envy him working outside in these temperatures. Riley and I don't even like going out of the apartment in the afternoon now.

This afternoon we played how many times can we pick up the blocks and dump them out. Riley was doing pretty good with both parts but he really enjoyed the dumping out portion of the game.

Dan had the whole day off today and he was busy again. Changed the blades on the lawn mower and then mowed the grass, edged all the sidewalks and watered the plants.

Spent the evening preparing my April pictures for editing and backup, makes the process go faster if I do this. So I'm all set to get to work in the morning.
