Excitement

We have new and exciting things going on in our neighborhood. My favorite fast food restaurant is going in by Publix. Taco Bell will be within walking distance of the house. This just seemed to pop up overnight. At least I know I will get some exercise in if I want to eat here.

Dan worked today, had a job with seven fans so he decided it would be easier to do on a Saturday. Really there was no time during the week so it had to be today. He left at about 0800 and got home at about 1330.

I left the house shortly after him to do my errands. Post Office, bank, and Wal-Mart, then I stopped by to visit with Andy and Nikki. We (by that I mean Nikki) made up a list of stuff for them to bring over tomorrow because we will have the kids until Tuesday. Spent some time playing with Riley and Kaleigh, it turned out to be one of those days that Riley didn't want me to leave and that makes it very difficult to walk out the door but I finally had to. Still had to stop by Publix on my way home.

Spent the rest of the day working in Photoshop and cleaning up the house.

Black Point Wildlife Drive

I left the house bright and early to get to Tammy's and head out with them at 0700. Well got to the 7-11 and my phone rang, it was Dan saying my camera was in the chair, did I want it? Of course I did so I turned around and back I went. Dan met me at the end of the driveway so I made the quickest trip I possible could and only ended up being about five minutes late so not to bad.

Had a nice drive over to Titusville and stopped to have our bagels (Tammy ran into town early this morning to pick them up). I was standing there with a piece in my hand looking out over the water at something and this raven swooped right in and took it right out of my hand. Can you believe no one even got a picture of that. It all happened so fast I wasn't sure what happened at first.

Then it was time to start on the Black Point Wildlife Drive. This is my second visit and Mum, Dad, and Tammy's third in recent months. It has gotten very dry, the water levels are so low that some places had no water at all. Not sure how this will effect all the animals here. We did see many more birds this time but it is nesting season so not sure if the population is up or down for this time of year.

One of the killdeer we saw, when we first stopped to look there were two but one ran into the scrub. Tried finding it hoping to see a nest but you couldn't see anything.

There were some huge groups of coots but caught this one by itself.

Lots of thistle, the two bees were really digging down in to get the pollen.

This was a huge group of pelicans flying overhead. They started quite a ways from us and just got closer and closer and finally disappeared in the other directions. It was very fascinating to watch them, swooping and spinning and turning.

There's always one in every crowd, the pelican in the center is flying the opposite direction of all the others.

This still isn't the whole group but gives you an idea of how many there were.

It was such a beautiful day, didn't get very hot, although I did get a bit of a sunburn on my face.

Admiring the view.

Click on this one, it is a baby eagle in the nest. A really big baby but still a baby. Dad says the nest was about 1800 feet from where we were and my zoom just wasn't quite enough.

The space shuttle on the pad ready for liftoff on either the 10th or 11th.

After this we went to visitor's center and had our lunch, sandwiches, chips, and pickles, it was great.

Hoping to come back again next month to see if there are any baby birds to be seen.

Out and About

Just a day out and about with Mum, Dad, and Tammy. Went to Panera for some breakfast and then rode over to the exchange. I picked up the companion tickets that I could get for the Disney special that is going on for the Armed Forces this year. Dan and I will have to get our free tickets out at Disney, they can't keep them in at ITT.

We walked around the exchange but didn't see anything we needed, although we did see some good prices on walking shoes and I think we will go back when we need some. I know I will be getting a new pair before the cruise in September.

After I got home they (Mum, Dad, and Tammy) stopped by because Dad wanted to try out my old camera and see how he liked it. So they picked that up and all the magazines that had been in their bin for a while.

I really don't know what I did for the rest of the afternoon because it just zipped by and then it was 1830 and Dan was arriving home and we had dinner. Made a pork tenderloin in the crockpot, it was delicious.

I'm So Close!

I'm getting so close and I really hate to say next week should be the week because I'm afraid I'll jinx it, but next week should be the week. I was down 1.6 pounds and only have .8 to go. How hard can that be, less than a pound but I know how hard that can be so I'll just keep on keeping on and I'll get there soon.

Can you guess what movie we were watching today? It wasn't "Cars", and this is Riley doing "To Infinity and Beyond". So you were right if you guessed "Toy Story", actually "Toy Story 2".

We were sitting at the table coloring and drawing pictures just having a good time. While Kaleigh sat on the floor playing with her toys.

After Kaleigh's nap Riley dragged the keyboard out of her room and that became the toy of the afternoon. We always seem to have one that we play with more.

Then it was book time, Riley got this box of books from GG and Jagee (Mum and Dad, in case you are wondering) and he just loves them. There is one for each letter of the alphabet with 3 pictures and 3 words/names of the pictures. He always sets them up like this and them brings them to me and we go through them. He is remembering more and more. Today he remember whale as soon as we saw the picture. Wolf is still a bit difficult because he really wants it to be a dog.

Kaleigh pulled herself up on her knees to play this time. She is going to be walking in no time.

This is the sunset on the way home. I pulled into the housing area off of Old Canoe Creek and shot a bunch and then took a couple across from the fire station on our road.

The Highlight of My Day

Not a very exciting day, spent the morning waiting for the bug man to come. We are once again glad to find out that we have no drywood termites. I knew you would be thrilled.

The weather has turned cold again but should be warming up later this week. We were in the 30's again this morning and only got up to about 57. I really need some warmer weather, the old hip has started to ache and that only happens when it is cold.

She Made a Liar Out of Me

After I've been telling everyone that Kaleigh shows no interest in standing by herself, look what she did today. I always stand her up and try to take my hands away and she will have none of that. Today she just stood there and actually shuffled her feet a bit. We did it several time so I know it wasn't just a fluke.

Learning shapes and colors. Riley is a pretty good teacher.

Just being cute. How can I resist a picture like this.

Standing at the walking toy, she didn't go anywhere but I'm sure that will come really soon. Just look at her, doesn't she look pretty proud of herself?

We had a really good day, everyone was in a good mood and ready to play. Did a lot of reading and coloring so the time went by pretty fast. Plus Riley didn't have a nap so he went to bed at about 1800 and was asleep in less than 15 minutes, tired boy. Kaleigh I'm sure went to bed shortly after Nikki got home because she had only a short nap and was rubbing her eyes like crazy before I left.

We Went for a Walk

We stopped and picked up Riley and Kaleigh to take them to the lake front for a walk. When we started it was a bit breezy, not really cold but didn't want to take any chances. Plus Riley likes to take his blanket where ever he goes. Most times I convince him to leave it in the car but today he needed it for a bit.

As we were walking ran into GG and Jagee and this is what Riley did the whole time, not sure if he was being shy or just a new game for him. Whichever, he is a silly boy.

When we reached the parking lot we went over to the lakeside for the walk back and waved to GG and Jagee as they walked on the sidewalk. Dad is moving along pretty good on the scooter.

Patiently waiting for me to get everything into the car so I can put her in.

The boys getting ready to load up.

Now it was errand time, off to the bank, Wal-Mart, gas station, and Dunkin' Donuts. After that long walk had to have a snack.

Dropped the kids off and it was home for us to do our chores. One of my tasks for today ended up being to give Cole a haircut, I can't believe how fast it grows. Got that done in no time and then got to visit with Tammy, Kim, Dennis, Sami, Cole, and Breann. They had just come from Gatorland and had a good time while they were there. Much less crowded this weekend according to Tammy.
