Happy Cat

Juan was a happy cat today, well any day that he can go outside but for some reason today he was just rolling all over the pool deck. He doesn't do it as often as when there was dirt to roll in but he certainly looked like he was enjoying himself today.

We were also lucky enough to have Chris grace us with his presence tonight. He is trying to shake a nasty cold, he is sounding better today then when I talked to him yesterday.

Christmas is officially put away in our house, always feel very accomplished when I finish that task.

I worked on pictures today. Decided I needed to figure out what pictures I want in what frames, I have acquired quite a collection that have just been sitting in my craft room plus I got a really nice one from Dan for Christmas. I picked out most of them today and will work on the rest tomorrow.

Not Much Going On

We don't very often have anything resembling a sunrise in front of the house, the trees are too tall and the sun gets to high before any color appears. This morning was a different story, the clouds were pretty interesting and added to the vista.

We went to the lakefront for our walk today and some one must have been watching out for us because the sun went behind one of those fantastic clouds and didn't reappear until we were getting back to the car.

Today was chores, Dan got all his done and then decided to mow the lawn. More or less it was just to get rid of the weeds that grow so tall. Now the yard looks great.

I did start on taking down the little trees, actually got all the ornaments off and most of them put away just a few more to go tomorrow. Then just packing up some of the loose items that I leave until the end to pack around everything else. My job will then be done. Then someone else has to get it all back up in the attic. Most of it goes up pretty easily but the big tree is very heavy and the box is quite long.

Started with a nice sunrise and ended up with a fantastic sunset.

Foggy, Foggy, Foggy

This is the site that greeted on our way over to Patrick this morning. We hadn't been since the beginning of November so it was a much needed trip. The fog is what made such a spectacular sunrise but it was so dense in some places we couldn't even see the sun. It had all burned off by the time we got to 95.

Got all our shopping done and the crowds were back to normal so we were in and out in our normal hour and a half. Don't know if they were waiting on shipments but there wasn't a piece of chicken to be had in the store. No boneless, skinless, like I usually buy. No pieces, no whole chickens, nothing, just a lot of empty where they should have been. That was about the only thing we didn't get.

Got home and started unloading and Mum and Dad stopped by. They had been to the Publix by us so they dropped in for a few minutes.

Once I got everything put away (Dan unloads the car) we took a ride over to visit Andy, Nikki, and the kids. Baapa and Riley went for a walk to the playground for a bit and I fed Kaleigh and visited with Andy and Nikki. Didn't stay very long.

You would think he was going to escape but there is a lock way up on the door to keep him from doing that.

Spent the afternoon waiting for football to come on and will watch the Falcons and Cardinals.

Getting There

I'm finally making some headway on the Christmas decorations. The living room is completely cleared of all things Christmas and all I have left to do are the three small trees. I'm pretty sure I won't be working on them this weekend but one never knows.

Not much else going on. Dan worked today and it turned into a longer day then he expected but he was still home before 1730.

I was also the useless information person today, got a call from Kim and Tammy wanting to know the location of the first McDonald's. Not an easy question to answer but what I came up with was the first Ray Kroc McDonald's franchise was in Des Plains, IL. The other question was where Route 17 went, found that it goes from Punta Gorda, Fl to Virginia. That was may contribution to their lively conversation today.

2008 in Twelve Sentences

Kathi posted this idea on her blog; post the first sentence from the first blog entry of each month. So here are mine, thought they would be very similar but they all turned out to be quite different.

So here is my year in twelve sentences.

1. Here's to a Happy New Year to everyone.

2. I know, I know you are all saying "Did you just throw all of Chris' stuff out on the front lawn?".

3. Decided to start the day with a walk along the lake front, it was a beautiful day and we had a great walk.

4. Getting things back to normal and into a routine.

5. Turned into a very busy day and not much got crossed off my to do list.

6. Happy Birthday Larry, hope you get to celebrate when boot camp is over.

7. Somehow today I only ended up with pictures of Kaleigh, can't image how I didn't get any of Riley.

8. It has been a long time since Tammy and I have gone out on a Friday to run errands.

9. Can't believe it is time for another birthday for you.

10. My Day Started with a Broken ATM... ... and I was the one who broke it.

11. I Know I've Already Said It......but the deck is done and today was the official celebration.

12. Riley is getting better as we speak (read?) but now Andy and Dan are throwing up.

A New Year

Started the day by going for a walk, just walked down to Pine Tree and out to Canoe Creek. Pretty quiet, only saw one person. Didn't see anything of real interest until we were almost back to the house and then we saw a bunch of woodpeckers. Every time I tried to get a picture of them off they would fly. It was like they knew what I was doing and were camera shy today.

A shot of the sun as we started our walk.

Then we took a ride to the post office and bank. Sure would be nice if Bank of America would put a branch in by the new Publix, then I could do most of my errands when we walk. Wouldn't that be nice.

Spent most of the day packing away Christmas decorations again, just doesn't seem to go very fast. Watched the sing along version of Mamma Mia and Dan sang the songs to me as I packed. Enjoyed the movie just as much this time, can see watching it over and over. It just makes me happy.

Then we watched Hancock, not what I was expecting and definitely not the ending I thought they were leading too.

Can't believe it is 2009 already, where did the past year go? We had a very good year and are looking forward to more of the same this year.

Happy New Year!
