Where Did the Cold Weather Come From

Wasn't expecting it to be cold this morning and then to find out that it will only be getting up to about 65 as a high for the next few days was a real surprise.

Riley and I got our early morning routine stuff done and we headed out for a walk at about 9 and it was much colder than I thought. The wind was blowing and even though there were blue skies the sun was behind some clouds. So we walked around the back of a couple of buildings and headed back to the apartment because we were both cold. Will go out again this afternoon and be better prepared. We had long sleeves and pants on but that wasn't enough, guess we will have to put on jackets.

So until nap time we played with blocks and duplos and just had a good time. Riley is getting pretty good at putting together the mega-blocks (really big duplo type blocks). So we build all sorts of things.

After a nap and lunch it was time to brave the fierce weather again. This time we went prepared as you can see in the pictures. It wasn't as cold as the morning but there was still a chill in the air. Guess it will be glove weather tomorrow. Even the ducks didn't want to move but we had to walk by them so they finally went down to the water.

Spent the afternoon reading and playing. The book for today was the Jingle Bells book which means I have to sing and Riley doesn't seem to mind at all because I must have sang it about 20 times.

Got home just in time to start dinner. This weekend I made preparations for most of the meals this week. We had fried rice tonight and the vegetables were all cut up and the rice was already cooked. So I just had to throw them in the wok and it was ready in about 15 minutes and it was very tasty.

And the Excitement Continues...

Well maybe there is excitement at your house, but it is pretty quiet here. Started the morning by sleeping in after the football game last night. After the first half I had no idea who was going to win, it was looking like who ever had possession last and scored would come out the victor. But New England just kept at it and walked away with the win.

Decided to go to BJ's, needed lots of stuff and had coupons for most of it. Hate that they don't open until 0900 sure used up the morning. Got home at about 1030 and I had forgotten to start the dishwasher and the washing machine so I was already behind on my chores.

Got back to work on editing photos and started uploading at about 1300, took the next 2 hours to get that all done. Then I had to do the shopping cart and determine what size prints for each picture and how many but that is all done and the order made. Hopefully they will be here for the weekend, I'm back in the scrapping mood. Plus I have some picture frames to get pictures into and hung.

Chris was home for about a 1/2 hour, just long enough to get his guns to go shooting. Something he always enjoys doing.

It turned out to be a very busy weekend, very productive too. Let's hope that continues through the week.

Even Saturday's are Busy

There is no rest for the weary. We were up and out of the house by 0645 to do our Saturday errands. As you can see the sunrise was pretty spectacular. Pulled into the fire station parking to get that shot. When we got to Wal Mart the seagulls were still there, I think there were more today than yesterday. It reminded me of the bats at Carlsbad Caverns.

Did our shopping at Wal Mart and for having just one thing on my list to get there we came out with lots of stuff. Breakfast was at Sonic and then Publix where we bought a couple more of the reusable grocery bags. When the baggers pack those bags they really fill them up.

Once we were home I was on the computer. It is my weekend to get all my pictures uploaded so I can make an order. I need to get Christmas and photos for my 2007 Year in Review and then just miscellaneous pictures. Still working on that. Also need to get stuff off the computer because the hard drive is getting full again, how does so much junk end up on there? The craft room is an ongoing project and I got more of that straightened up.

By this time it was 1400 and all I had stopped for was a quick sandwich for lunch. Andy, Nikki and Riley stopped by and we watched Riley for a couple of hours. We continued with our work after Riley had a grilled cheese sandwich, see I told you that is all he ever eats over here. Watered the plants by the pool or at least the ones that are still alive. I would like to blame the cold snap for the ones that died but it is more likely lack of water.

Then I had a great idea of going to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Dan got a blizzard, I got a dish of vanilla ice cream and Riley got a plain cone which I filled with ice cream. He ate it all by himself and only got it on his face and hands. When it got down to about 1/2 inch of cone left it all went in his mouth and he had chipmunk cheeks for a couple of minutes. I think he really enjoyed it, I know we enjoyed watching him.

We got home and Andy and Nikki arrived just after us.

So now the house is quiet again and we are going to spend the evening watching football.

Busy Day

I think Riley is trying to tell me I took one to many pictures today or that he is five years old. Which do you think.

We had a very busy morning, up and out of the house by 0745. Wal-Mart was first on the list and there was a flock of seagulls flying all around the parking lot so we had to look at them for a bit. Wal-mart was just our normal Friday shopping and it is nice to have the store back to normal at that time of day after all the crowds for the holidays.

Off to Sonic next, I got my usual, Route 44 Diet Coke with lots of extra ice, poor Riley got nothing. Then it was Weight Watchers and everyone was happy to see Riley again, it had been quite a while and all the ladies wanted to hold him and he had no problems with that. I had a good day -2.8, now just have to continue.

Decided to go to Publix and get a ham sub for lunch, hadn't brought anything and it sounded good. We dropped off some of Nikki's old clothes and then it was time to head home. For some reason Riley decided he didn't want to get back in the car seat and wouldn't bend for me so it took a bit to get him buckled in but he finally sat down so we could get on the road.

The rest of the day was spent doing all our normal things but in the process of doing that I saw that Riley has 4 molars coming in and that could explain some of his crankiness and not wanting to sleep. Hope that the worst is over seeing as how all four have broken through the gums.

Dan and I went out to Applebee's for dinner, I had shrimp and steak from the Weight Watcher's section and it was delicious. Dan had a steak and it was cooked just right for him. Took a trip to Michael's, I have been looking for some rub-ons and didn't find them there either. Have to come up with a different idea.

Got home at about 2000, I know why we don't go out at night, it is crazy out there. To many people doing silly things on the road.

Waiting

Waiting was the name of the game today. Last night Andy and Nikki's microwave died (provided by the apartment) so I called it in to the apartment complex, but I had to wait until 0900 and the girl told me someone would be by today. Well that turned out to be 1500, but there was good news. They are replacing the microwaves as they break or people move out with new over the range ones. That will free up counter space and an outlet. It should be here to be installed the beginning of next week. Guess I will have another waiting day.

Riley had to wait for me to get him out of his crib although it is his fault he didn't make any noise until he had thrown everything within reach from the crib and changing table.

Then I had to wait again on the way home. They are still cleaning out the ditches along Old Canoe Creek Rd and I caught the tail end of it today. I must have gotten there just as they let the other direction go and when I got to go the road was open and all traffic was moving.

So that was my day, how was yours?

Do You Want to Go for a Walk?

Starting with just a couple of cute pictures of Riley, he always makes me laugh.

I asked Riley this morning if he wanted to go for a walk and he really didn't have an answer for me, so I set up the stroller and went to get him some socks and when I got back to the living room Riley had climbed up into the stroller and was ready to go. Guess that was my answer.

Off we went, it was a beautiful day and everywhere we went other people were out walking their dogs, most of them barked and growled at Riley, they really weren't very friendly. Then the last dog we met was a cock-a-poo and he was so friendly just wanted to sniff Riley's toe, which was very funny to Riley. I learned the dogs whole life story, he is 11 years old and the lady's little boy and she doesn't know what she would do without him. Guess we were out a bit earlier than normal and that is why we ran into all the dog walkers.

Got back to the apartment and just played a bit. I don't put the stroller away until Riley goes down for his nap because he likes to play in it and today he found a new way to sit in it as you can see in the picture. Don't think we would get very far on a walk this way but it was a great way to watch Family Feud and clap along.

The rest of the day was pretty much the same as all others.

I got home and Dan won't be home until I don't know when, his first job of the day wasn't until 3 and he had one more after that. Makes for a pretty long day for him because he was up and ready to go at his normal time. So he just putter around the house.

Just a Regular Day

Riley and I didn't do much today but what we did do, he enjoyed very much. We went out on our morning walk and came across the ducks. Time to introduce you to them, the two white ones that look alike are the Twins, the white one with the tuft of feathers on the top of his head is Mohawk, and the Muscovy is better known as Ugly, a bit harsh but then muscovy aren't the prettiest ducks. All names are courtesy of Andy and Riley, although I don't know how much Riley actually contributed.

Next we came to the playground and we decided the swings were calling us. Riley loved the swing, he laughed and giggled the whole time he was swinging and really didn't want to get off, but mean old Gramma made him stop so we could continue our walk.

That was very tiring so Riley went right down for his nap when we got back to the apartment.

The afternoon was a bit long because Riley got up at about 1 after a three hour nap but he was getting cranky and ready for another nap by the time Andy got home.

The last shot is from the backyard of the sun starting to set. Sure was a beautiful day today.
