First Day on the Job

Back to work for me, although it is hard to call this work. Riley and I had a very busy morning. He was up when I got to the apartment, I wasn't expecting that but we figure he is use to getting up when he hears Nikki and that is what he did today.

Breakfast and a bath and we were ready to hit the road and get some errands done. First was the Post Office, had to mail back one of the parts for the dryer that wasn't right and we really didn't need it anyways. Then to the bank and the drive thru to make a deposit.

Our big stop of the day was Wal-Mart and even though I only needed a couple of things we walked the whole store just to be out and about. Today I even remembered to bring one of my shopping bags (the one Kathi gave to me) so I didn't have to use plastic bags. I will be leaving it in the car so we can use it more often. Might even pick up a couple more so we don't have to use plastic bags anywhere we go.

Time to head home and read some books and play with the blocks. Riley climbed into his toy box and spent a long time just playing in there. At about 1100 Riley went down for a nap. Put him in the crib and he just rolled over, shut his eyes and he was asleep.

Guess getting up early makes for a very tired boy, because he slept almost three hours. He was definitely ready for lunch - grilled cheese one of his favorites) and some yogurt. Then we went out for a walk around the apartment complex. It was very nice except all the lawn guys were there and their equipment was very noisy.

I was properly relieved by Andy so the first day back is now officially in the books.

I Really Think He Is Your Son!

This is what you get when you take a picture of someone who really doesn't want their picture taken but when has that ever stopped one of us from taking the picture - NEVER. So here Chris is in all his glory.

Dan and Chris got all the Christmas decorations back up in the attic, the breakfast nook is once again usable and I can enjoy looking at the empty space.

Nikki, Andy, and Riley arrived about an hour later, Andy planned that one very well. To bad Dad, I made the biscuits then and they must have been pretty good because they disappeared pretty fast. Had some chili for lunch and if I do say so myself, it was pretty good. I don't very often make chili because I never know what to put in it. This time I combined hamburg and spicy sausage with the beans and used chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and chopped garlic with a base of tomato sauce, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes. Turned out pretty good. Sent some home with Andy and Nikki and will freeze some.

Poor Riley, I was making a grilled cheese sandwich and burnt it so had to start again. Did much better this time and he enjoyed what he ate, the rest ended up on the floor.

The rest of the day was spent watching football.

What Is This?

Got all excited this morning when I saw this, thought "Is Chris moving out?" then I remembered he had talked about going through his junk and putting some up in the attic. Oh well a mother can hope.

In other news, my 22 year old dryer seems brand new. Dan replaced the rollers and belt, cleaned it all up and it is running like a champ and drying our clothes like there is no tomorrow. What more can you ask for. I know some of you would say a new dryer but I'm attached to this one. It still works and it drives Chris crazy that I won't buy a new one so what other reason do I need to keep this one for as long as I can?

It May Be A Girl..........

...but then again it might not be, but at least our hopes weren't dashed all at once and we still have time to dream. There was good news with the ultra-sound, all looks good with the baby and we now have an official due date of May 29. Sounds like a good day to me.

More good news, Nikki got a job at a law office in Maitland and she starts on Monday. This means I have a job again also. I have some renegotiating to do with my boss and he is a real tough one to work for. But so long as I get more hugs and kisses I will be happy.

I also had a good day at Weight Watchers, lost most of the holiday gain and I'm back on track. I'll be walking more again, my new boss really likes to go for walks.

What a great day.

Baby It's Cold Outside

This is what greeted us this morning, 28 degrees outside and 63 inside. I'm sitting here at the computer with my gloves on because I can't keep my hands warm any other way. If the house doesn't warm up by mid-morning or so I will turn on the heat.

I have been trying to think of something else I can bake, so I can stand in front of the oven and enjoy the warmth but nothing is coming to mind and with 10 dozen cookies sitting on the counter it's hard to justify any more goodies in the house.

Guess What I'm Doing Today

Decided yesterday that I was going to bake cookies today. The cold weather was coming in so the heat from the oven would feel good and the cookie sheets would cool down between each batch making for a better cookie.

So almost 10 dozen cookies later I'm all done, kitchen is clean and all I have to do is pack up the cookies for storage.

So if anyone wants a cookie or two they are here for the taking. You are all invited to come over and enjoy.
