Mayflies Everywhere

Another walk at the lake front today. I had to put gas in the car and go to the bank, so seeing as how we were already out might as well go for our walk.

This is the first time we have seen so many mayflies. They were gathered around all the lights and thick as can be. When we rolled the stroller over them (not because I wanted to, but because we couldn't avoid them) it sounded like rice krispies; snap, crackle and pop.

Just as we got to the other side of the marina we met GG and Jagee. They were the lucky ones, finishing up their walk and not just starting out. Chatted for a few minuted and then continued on.

We had the breeze and the sun on our way out so it wasn't to bad and when we turned around, having the sun at our back was much better.

We saw this heron on the way back, it was stalking something in the water so we stopped and watched. One time he actually caught something, not sure what it was but the heron seemed happy with it. Got these action photos of him going after something but not catching it.

Found out that the other end of the walk is closed because they are putting in another pond. Hope this will be the end of the construction.

Riley finally went down for his nap at about 1130, he just didn't want to go to sleep. I put him on the couch and he laid there for quite a while and was quiet so I carried him into his bed and he dropped off to sleep.

I had the pleasure of Andy's company for lunch. He moved to the Saint Cloud job today and decided to come home and cool off for a half hour. Don't envy him working outside in these temperatures. Riley and I don't even like going out of the apartment in the afternoon now.

This afternoon we played how many times can we pick up the blocks and dump them out. Riley was doing pretty good with both parts but he really enjoyed the dumping out portion of the game.

Dan had the whole day off today and he was busy again. Changed the blades on the lawn mower and then mowed the grass, edged all the sidewalks and watered the plants.

Spent the evening preparing my April pictures for editing and backup, makes the process go faster if I do this. So I'm all set to get to work in the morning.

Happy Birthday Cole!

Hope you have a really great day and see you this weekend. Happy, Happy Birthday!

Do You Know These People?

Mean Gramma

Heard on the news about the water main break at Neptune and Old Canoe Creek and it never occurred to me until I was on the road that Andy and Nikki were probably affected by this. They had water when I got there but found out they were in the boil water area. So I boiled up a big pot of water so Riley would have something to drink during the day.

While we were out for our walk stopped in at the office to see if they had heard anything about the boil order and when it might be lifted but they didn't even know about the water main break so they weren't much help.

As we were walking back to the apartment who should drive up but GG and Jagee. They were stopping by to pick up some papers I printed for Tammy. They stayed for a few minutes and then were on their way to do their errands.

We spent the rest of the morning playing and when Riley got up from his nap I had some post-it notes out and I just couldn't resist sticking on Riley. He really does think it is pretty funny but I couldn't get a good picture because they kept falling off. It was a game that kept us amused for most of the afternoon because we would just pick up the post-its off the floor and stick them on each other. Takes so little to keep us amused, paint chips from Home Depot and now post-its, what will it be next. Although he does like it when I put the tunnel over my head and drop it to the floor and then pull it up over my head again. I'm sure that would keep lots of other people amused to, because it has got to be quite the sight.

Dan had the afternoon off and was very busy at home. Cleaned out our closet, now we have to rearrange the shelves so the boxes we bought will fit on them. It will look so nice when it is done.

He also cooked dinner, pork on the grill. It was delicious.

Only nine days until Kaleigh's Birthday!!

What's the Lion Wearing Now?

We were ready and out of the apartment pretty early. Wanted to walk along the lake front and get a picture of the Cinco de Mayo Lion, didn't want anyone to miss out on seeing it.

We had a nice walk and lucked out that we finished with the breeze in our face and the sun at our back because it got very hot walking the other way. Riley did very well wearing his hat when the sun was in our face but when it wasn't he felt his foot needed the hat more then his head.

Still no idea what they are doing at the lake front but the one end is closed with lots of equipment and people working inside the fence they have put up. Sure wish they would just get it all done.

When we got home we looked at the flowers and tried to figure out why one of the impatients is dying and we couldn't see anything obvious but who knows it may just come back on it's own or just die.

This was one of those days when Riley took his nap, Gramma took a nap too. Mine wasn't quite as long as his but I just couldn't keep my eyes open for about an hour. After that I spent some time reading up on the Channel Islands, which are off the coast of Santa Barbara. Dan and I will be doing a day trip out to Anacapa while we are out there. Looks very interesting and can't wait.

Riley and I spent the afternoon playing and when Andy arrived home we almost didn't recognize the man behind the new glasses with sunglasses. Makes him look downright handsome. But don't tell Andy that or it will go right to his head.

Gator Count

We really weren't early enough to catch the sunrise, so I just positioned myself so the sun was behind the palm tree and it gave the illusion of a sunrise. Pretty neat trick, doesn't always work but today it did.

We walked on the east side of the parking lot this morning and we only saw two alligators in the pond on that side. Kind of a let down after all the ones we were seeing on the other side.

We did see lots of pretty wildflowers today and that is what I concentrated on for my pictures.

Started to get warm by the end of our walk so we had to stop by Sonic so I could get something (diet coke, was there any doubt in your mind) to drink. Then we were off to Publix for the weekly fruit and vegetable shopping with a few other things thrown in.

Tammy call just as we were leaving Sonic, she wanted to stop by the house and get something printed out. She was doing her WalMart shopping before coming by.

We had only been home for about 15 minutes when Tammy called to say she was on her way. I had found the document she wanted to print and we made some changes to it and we were set to go. She also got a sheet of paper for her vacation album that she is working on. Can't wait to see it.

I spent the afternoon uploading pictures to be printed.

Scrapbookpictures.com is have a sale on 4 x 6 prints until the 18th of May. I want to make an order at this price. Should be able to get all of April's uploaded and then I will have the first four months of the year taken care of.

Watched a bunch of my Tivoed shows and that pretty much sums up my day.

Garage Sale

We were up bright and early to head over to Jodi and Robert's to set up for the garage sale. Well it was really just our normal time but bright and early sounds so much better. Tammy picked us up at about 0645 and we stopped for breakfast at Dunkin Donuts and Sonic.

We were at Jodi's by 0715 and the neighborhood was looking pretty sad, only one other person was setting up to sell. Usually we see more then half the houses with stuff in the driveway. Got all set up and we sat back to wait. And we waited. It didn't look like anyone was going to come. Then it was pretty strange how all morning everyone came in groups, we would have 10 - 15 people looking at our stuff and then no one would be around. Tammy found the secret to selling stuff. She would pick something up and look interested in it, put it down and someone else would pick it up and buy it. Worked a couple of time first thing and it made us feel better that we actually sold something. We all ended up doing pretty good. Most of the big stuff went so there wasn't much to bring home. I would have liked to have sold more books.

Took a tour of Robert's Pineapple Plantations, it wasn't a long tour but it was pretty impressive. The pineapples looked great. There's hope for Dan's pineapple plants, I didn't realize how long they would take to grow.

This falcon was across the street making lots of noise and then flew off and we didn't see it again.

We packed everything up at about 1130 and right about that time we got another glut of shoppers and Cheri sold a few more things. We were ready to be done with it and headed home.

Spent the afternoon doing chores and getting all caught up on the computer with back ups and clearing stuff off the hard drive.
